چکیده

SEPSIS is a complex clinical syndrome involving both infection and a deleterious host immune response. Actue Kidney Injury (AKI) is a frequent and serious complication of sepsis in Intensive Care Unitpatient (ICU). Despite recent impressive advances in the pathophysiology, diagnostic procedures, and appropriate therapeutic interventions in sepsis, sepsis-induced AKI fails to reduce the overwhelmingly high mortality rate and longer hospital stay. A major obstacle for effective treatment of sepsis-induced AKI is the relative lack of specific early and effective diagnostic tools. Current clinical Serum Creatinine (Scr) is unable to detect the early AKI, in the past ten decades, studies have identified several biomarkers for the early diagnosis of AKI, but only limited information exists concerning their values in the diagnosis of sepsis-induced AKI. In this article, we have made a comprehensive review to discuss the clinical value of biomarkers in the diagnosis of sepsis-induced AKI.

Risk Factors of Acute Kidney Injury in Patients with Sepsis; A Cross-Sectional Study

Background and Objective: Due to the importance of acute kidney injury associated in patients with sepsis and the impact of various factors on mortality and hospital stay of these patients, this study was conducted to investigate the clinical features and risk factors for acute kidney injury in patients with sepsis. In addition, we examined whether the severity of acute kidney injury affected c...

Biomarkers, diagnosis and management of sepsis-induced acute kidney injury: a narrative review

Sepsis is a leading cause of acute kidney injury in clinical practice. The diagnosis of sepsis-induced acute kidney injury requires the diagnosis of sepsis and subsequent occurrence of acute kidney injury. The current definition for acute kidney injury is based on Scr and urine output, which is limited by the delayed identification of such patients. Numerous novel biomarkers have been found to ...

Potential interventions in sepsis-related acute kidney injury.

Sepsis is an important cause of morbidity and mortality. Acute kidney injury often complicates sepsis, leading to greater complexity, cost of care, and worsening prognosis. In recent years, a consensus definition of acute kidney injury has been developed, facilitating research into the pathophysiology and epidemiology of this disorder. New and emerging biomarkers to recognize kidney injury befo...

Animal models of sepsis and sepsis-induced kidney injury.

Sepsis is characterized by a severe inflammatory response to infection, and its complications, including acute kidney injury, can be fatal. Animal models that correctly mimic human disease are extremely valuable because they hasten the development of clinically useful therapeutics. Too often, however, animal models do not properly mimic human disease. In this Review, we outline a bedside-to-ben...
